Tweens' Rooms

Q: My 12-year-old daughter is ready for a more sophisticated look in her room. Where is a good place to start?
A: When you are moving from child/youth furniture to a more grown-up look, adding an upholstered chair to her room is a fantastic place to begin. Every teenage girl loves to chat on the phone or read the latest issue of Seventeen. In fact, AHFA recently conducted a survey of teens and tweens and a sofa/chair was the number one piece of furniture that they would like to add to their room.

Q: Our 14-year-old son spends a lot of time in his room playing video games and surfing the Internet. I would like to organize his room better and store his computer and stereo equipment in an attractive way. Any ideas?
A: Today's furniture manufacturers make really cool, hip and parent-approved furniture for teens. I bet that you and he would agree on a new workstation/desk with lots of storage and room for his electronics.
